I'm creating a AI Blog Post writer in Claude.
Shft is undergoing a rebrand — new strategy, new offers, new message, new experince, and new design.
SEO blog posts are part of that new strategy.
I used to love writing long-form content. Just ask my former college professors. I used to get docked for writing more than the page limit. (One of my senior papers had to be max 30 pages. My rough draft was 55).
But I don't really have the patience for it right now.
I'm running a business. Writing blog posts is not a high priority or a good use of my time.
Using AI to write for me, though? Most efforts I see are pure sh*t.
(and that's putting it nicely)
So, I decided to create a system that actually works.
A little bit of AI, a whole lotta Sassy Jason, and some elbow grease and I'm starting to get Claude to sound like me.
AI Blog Writing System
Here's the step-by-step process I'm building to create blog posts that are written with my tone of voice, my expertise, and my unique points of view.
Caveat: this is a work in progress and requires existing content.
Step 1: Create Project & Upload Documents
I started by creating a project in Claude and uploading some key documents:
- brand strategy & messaging
- ideal customer profile (use this template)
- existing content (7+ years' worth)
These documents act as the foundation for everything else we build.
I recommend using this ideal customer profile template to ensure you provide Claude with enough details about your ICP, their pains, problems, motivations, desires, buying journey, and DNA.
Step 2: Create AI Tone of Voice Guide
Next, I gave Claude access to my existing content, a break down of what we do, and a list of competitors and asked it to create a tone of voice breakdown it can use to write like me.
Here's the full prompt:
You are an expert brand and SEO strategist specializing in creating SEO content that attracts {what type} businesses looking for {what kind of} help.
Here is a breakdown of what we do:
I’ve uploaded a copy of our ideal customer profile for you.
You can find more information at these links:
- Website:
- Youtube:
- Instagram:
- Linkedin:
- Reddit:
Here are my competitors with URLs:
You can find our existing blog posts here:
Here’s what I want you to do:
- Step 1: Access the blog posts here
- Step 2: click through into each blog post and read it
- Step 3: create a tone and voice breakdown based on what you read It should include:
- Tone of Voice Adjective, Description, Relative Dos, Relative Don’ts
- Word Choice and Language Preferences
- Formatting and Punctuation
- Phrase Preferences
- Additional Stylistic Guidelines
- Unique Points of View
Make this a tone and voice document that you can use for all future writing.
Review this document and make changes as needed, especially for your unique points of view. Those should be set in your brand strategy, but many strategy companies don't provide them.
Step 3: Analyze SEO
Next, ask Claude to perform keyword research and your website and your competitors' websites. This will help create a Hub and Spoke Content plan of blog posts to create.
Here is the prompt:
You are an expert brand and SEO strategist specializing in creating SEO content that attracts {what type} businesses looking for {what kind of} help.
Here is a breakdown of what we do:
I’ve uploaded a copy of our ideal customer profile for you.
Here are my competitors with URLs:

Here’s what I want you to do:
Step 1: Access the blog posts here:
Step 2: click through into each blog post and read it
Step 3: build a list of keywords my content should rank for to attract my ICP (see ideal customer profile doc)
Step 4: look at my competitors' sites to see if there are any keywords I should try to rank for
Upload this report to your Claude project. You'll need if for the next step.
Step 4: Create Hub & Spoke Strategy
Using everything you built from steps 1-3, it's time to create a Hub and Spoke Content Strategy.
This will generate the list of blog posts to write, the keywords to focus on, and the slug to ensure your posts are optimized to rank.
Here's the prompt to use in the same chat window:
Using the ideal customer profile, tone and voice document, and keyword research document uploaded to this project, please create a Hub and Spoke SEO Strategy of blog posts to write.
This strategy should include a table with these columns:
- Post Type (hub or spoke)
- Title
- Slug
- Subtitle
- Meta Description
- Primary Keyword
- Secondary Keywords
Use the Keyword Research document to determine hub posts and create 5-7 spoke posts for each hub.
Titles should be under 60 characters.
Subtitles should be under 100 characters.
Meta Descriptions should be under 150 characters.
Save this document and upload it to your Claude project.
Step 5: Create a Post Outline
Now the fun begins! It's time to pick one of the posts in your Hub and Spoke document and ask Claude to generate an outline.
This will allow you to make adjustments before the post is written, to shape it with your expertise.
Here's the prompt I use:
Using the tone of voice guidelines, our ICP document, the hub and spoke strategy you created, and our existing content, I want you to create an outline of the {BLOG POST TITLE} post.
In this outline, please include:
- SEO optimized Page Title (under 60 characters)
- Sub Title (under 100 characters)
- All SEO optimized Headers (please indicate if they are H1, H2, H3, or H4)
- Meta description (under 150 characters)
- Brief description of what you think we should include under each header
Review the outline Claude prepares and make any edits as necessary.
In the next step, we'll have Claude write the post from this outline, so take the time to get the outline exactly as you want it.
Step 6: Create the Rough Draft
Once the outline is approved, it's time to write the post.
Here's the prompt to use:
Using the Tone of Voice guidelines, this outline, our existing content, the hub and spoke strategy document, and our ideal customer profile, I want you to write a rough draft of this post.
A few rules for you:
- pull from our existing content for examples and points of view
- indicate in the copy where additional client examples would be appropriate
- indicate in the copy where you don’t know if something is true
- give me ideas for images and where they should be placed in the text
- remove all links to references
- shoot for 2000 words or more
- create an intro before the first H2, following the formatting guidelines in the personality and tone of voice guide
Ensure the post is optimized for these keywords:
- Primary Keyword:
- Secondary Keywords:
Keyword Rules to follow
The primary keyword should be in the title, slug, first 100 words, and at least one subheading (h2 or h3), and meta descriptionSecondary keywords should be scattered through the body, conclusion, and image alt text
You now have a fully written rough draft. It may be tempting to stop here, but chances are this post does not sound like you. At least not perfectly.
Step 7: Ruthlessly Edit
This is the step most of you will want to skip.
Go through the blog post Claude just wrote for you and ruthlessly edit it or even rewrite it completely.
I know this seems counterintuitive — why rewrite a post AI just wrote for you?!
The goal here isn't to just pump out a single blog post. It's to train Claude to think and write like you.
Step 8: Rework Tone of Voice Guide
Take your ruthlessly edited post and feed it back into Claude.
The goal here is to get Claude to update your tone of voice guide so it begins to write more and more like you.
Here's the prompt I use:
I reworked the blog post you just wrote to sound more like me and to use words and phrases I use in my writing.
Here's what I want you to do:
- Read through the post you wrote
- Read through the revised post I attached
- Access the Tone of Voice guide in this project
- Rewrite the Tone of Voice guide to ensure you match the word choices, formatting, voice, and phrases of the post I edited.
Replace the existing tone of voice guide in your Claude Project with this one.
Implementing this System Correctly
My goal for this system is two-fold:
- Create blog posts that pull from my expertise and sound like me
- Continuously improve Claude's ability to write like me
Claude won't match your tone of voice perfectly the first time.
I'm planning to follow this system to write 30 blog posts — ruthlessly editing each post and uploading a new tone of voice guidelines every time.
It will be a heavy lift upfront.
But if my suspicions are correct, after 30 or so blog posts, Claude will start writing more and more like me, cutting down the edits and becoming my blog post ghostwriter.
Give it a try.
I've already written 4 blog posts using this system — and each one has gotten progressively better at sounding like me.
Want a full video tutorial to set up this system for yourself?
If enough people say yes, I will create a course showing step-by-step how I created and use this system.
