My LinkedIn reach dropped by 81% over the last year.
But since January, I'm attracting larger, higher-paying clients with my LinkedIn content.
- like a $43M ARR manufacturer
- or a $62M ARR SaaS company
- or a $127M ARR automation builder
8- to 9-figure businesses are choosing Shft for their positioning needs.
All without sending DMs, starting conversations, doing cold outreach, or trying to master networking.
They saw a post, read more of my content, saw I know what I'm doing, and jumped over to the Shft website to book call.
None of that happens by accident.
Or by listening to influencers on the platform who tell you to be vulnerable, share your story, and post more selfies than a thirsty wannabe model on Instagram.
Attract Leads from Content Alone
I was able to attract higher-paying client with content alone by following these 4 key steps:
1. Know Your Ideal Customers
I cannot harp on this enough. Everything in your business gets easier the more you know your ideal customers.
Jump on Zoom calls. Interview them. Research them. Watch what they interact with. Understand their motivations, fears, pains, and what they look for from a vendor.
Then compile your insights into a Customer Profile document (like this one).
Doing this will make your content far more effective than hook templates, an AI writer, that engagement pod you joined, or trying to mimic what some influencer does on the platform.
2. Write Your Posts for Them
There are two rules of thought when it comes to content:
- Create for the masses
- Create for your ideal customers
One will get you likes, engagement, and reach. It'll feed your ego and make you feel successful.
Let's be honest. More enegagement and reach does feel good.
But mass-appeal content rarely attracts the people who are most likely to buy from you.
Writing your posts for your ideal customers does mean you'll get fewer reactions and engagement. Hell, my reach tanked by 81% because of this.
But it will align you with the people who give you money.
- Give actionable tips
- Share practical advice
- Create DIY guides
- Post how-to carousels
- Answer their questions
- Address their problems
- Solve their issues
It's not glamorous and it won't turn you into an influencer.
But, when you create for your ideal customers, they see you as an expert and choose to work with you.
That's a win-win in my book.
3. Repeat the Same Message Every Day
Psychological studies show us that people need to hear the same message:
- 3-5 times to recognize it
- 5-7 times to remember it
- 8-13 times to associate you with it
Meaning, repetition is the secret to burying your brand name in the back of their minds as the expert to trust.
Pick ONE main topic and focus on it for years.
I've talked about some aspect of brand strategy every weekday for 6 years without fail.
I rarely talk about my personal life (my ICP doesn't give a flying crap about that).
I don't talk about topics outside of brand (even though everything really is brand).
I rarely post selfies (LinkedIn thinks I'm an uggo anyway).
ONE topic. ONE message. ONE main point of view.
That's how your ideal customers will see you and remember you as an expert to trust.
4. Push Them Into Your Ecosystem
LinkedIn is not the only place to get actionable, practical advice from me.
This email is a key part of that equation.
Every post on LinkedIn pushes people to do one of three things:
- Subscribe to the Brand Shft
- Download a resource
- Watch a YouTube video
I give my audience a next step that gives them even more content.
My strategy behind it is simple: get people to binge my content.
I've found that if someone consumes about 10 hours worth of my content (reading posts, reading an email, watching a video), they are more likely to buy from me.
This isn't about just giving out more content. It's a sales tactic.
The more you consume, the closer you are to moving up my sales staircase and giving me money.
Don't rely on LinkedIn content alone. Build an ecosystem that gets your ideal customers binging your content. They'll be far more likely to buy.
Build Your System
I've followed the plan above for the last 6 years and have attracted 8- and 9-figure businesses as leads because of it.
Please understand, this isn't something you do for one month and magically attract the leads you want.
It does take time (think years, not months), consistency in your message, and showing up on the platform.
This is also one part of my content system.
I DO send DMs, start conversations, and network to generate leads.
Waiting for people to find you and reach out is fear, not a strategy. You run a business after all, not a paid hobby.
However, when you get your content aligned with your ideal customers, you will get leads that consume your content and reach out first.
And that, my friend, is pure gold.
Until next week,
#SassyJason out.
